| These bronzes fall within a
ten year period of creation. I produced the initial designs by
modeling wax or clay, or in a few instances by carving wood.
Rubber and plaster molds were pulled from these originals so that
castings could be made and each original offered in limited
edition. With the exception of
Lifecycle which is a sand cast, all the pieces are cast via the
traditional lost-wax process. While I favor three distinct patinas
in particular, an infinite range of colorings is possible. Far
from being a cold, mute material, bronze has compelling vitality.
In spite of the technical complexities and sheer labor involved in
a finished casting, bronze surely captures the immediacy of the
original material, the feeling of the artist’s hand...and
effectively immortalizes them.
